The size and shape of breasts will vary from woman to woman. Some other factors such as pregnancy, weight loss, skin type or age will also accentuate this difference.
Some women will suffer from too flat breasts or the shape of their breasts is not harmonious.
Cosmetic surgery will therefore provide a solution to these women with lipofilling breast augmentation technique in Tunisia

The concept of lipofilling breasts as well as buttocks is based on two actions: removing fat from certain parts of the patient’s body by liposuction and reinjecting them into the parts to be filled. In this case, in the breasts of the patient to give them the volume and shape and desired.
The amount of fat needed for this procedure is less important than for a lipofilling of the buttocks. The fat is taken from the areas where it is in excess (panties, abdomen, hip…) and carefully reinject it into the part of the breasts that you want to fill, reshape or increase.
It is also important to ensure that the fat taken is of good quality and contains only the ideal particles so that it can be viable.
Who is this technique for
This technique is intended for patients who are not satisfied with the size or shape of their breasts and whose desired volume or new shape is not very important and does not require breast augmentation by implant. The patient must be at least 18 years of age and have enough fat in the abdomen or thighs to extract the fat to be injected.
Merits of the intervention
The breasts operated are larger with a curve and more uniform curves in harmony with the rest of the body. The result is real but discreet. The quality of the skin is improved in the areas injected by fat cells.
Recommendations to be taken before surgery
The surgeon will perform an examination on the patient’s chest and discuss with her the expected size by lipofilling. It is imperative that the surgeon explain the size and location of future scars.
A pre-operative blood test may be requested and no medication containing aspirin is allowed 10 to 15 days before the procedure
consultation
The syndrome of too small or deformed breasts is generally poorly experienced by women who see it as a violation of their femininity,
Dr Atef Ghedira therefore proposes to accompany patients in making the best choices if she wishes to resort to a reasonable increase in the volume of a breast deemed too small or deformed through the lipofilling technique
Breast lipofilling – The procedure
Type of anesthesia + duration of hospitalization
This is most often a conventional general anaesthetic. During the consultation meeting, the surgeon and anaesthetist give the patient as much information as possible about the procedure. Hospitalization is 1 to 2 days depending on the importance of the areas where fat extraction took place.
The actual operation and its duration
The technique of lipofilling consists of two parts of equal importance because each will have its impact on a specific area of the body. It lasts between 2 and 3 hours depending on the amount of fat to be taken and the affected areas.
Sampling of fat
A so-called donor area is used to collect fat cells. In women, the main donor areas are the abdomen, thighs and horse breeches.
Subsequently, two options may arise
– cleaning of greases from their impurities before injection
– immediate reinjection of fat cells without filtration which improves their chance of survival at the time of transplantation.
Since both methods are effective, the surgeon will adopt the one he deems appropriate according to the patient’s case.
Injection of fat
The injection of recovered fat is made in the form of micro-beads of fatty tissue, through tiny incisions made in the recipient area. It is done in several layers at a time in the areas that the surgeon wants to fill or increase.
As this is a fat autograft, the donor and recipient are the same person. The injected fat is 100% tolerated by the body, so there is no risk of rejection or allergy.
End of operation: sutures+bandages
At the end of the procedure, the surgeon sutures the incisions and places a “shaping” bandage with an elastic bandage.
Sutures and bandages are also applied to areas of the patient’s body from which fat has been removed, if necessary.
Common consequences
• Presence of oedema and bruising in the areas where fat is collected, which varies according to the number of donor areas
• Slight swelling in the injected area lasting one or two days.
Postoperative follow-up
During the stay
Removal of the dressings and verification of the correct start of healing and resorption of edema
After the return
Dr. Atef Ghedira will follow up the patient beyond the period of hospitalization. He will be at her disposal even remotely for all the questions she may ask herself.
Precautions: availability of surgeon + recovery period
The patient should wear a compression-sheath-like garment over the areas from which the fat has been removed. This will speed recovery and give a better result
A sport practice should be considered gradually only at the end of the 6th week.
Avoid direct sunlight exposure of treated areas (donor and recipient) for a few weeks)
Complication
• Infection that may require antibiotic treatment.
• An asymmetry that may require retouching
Result
In terms of volume, the result is appreciated within 3 to 6 months after the intervention, once the edema and possible bruises have completely disappeared.
In the longer term, one notes an improvement in breast flexibility and a decrease in brown color.
Questions fréquentes sur le lipofilling mammaire
Scientific research to date has not shown a correlation between breast cancer and this intervention.
However, this operation only takes place on breasts free of any pathology, hence the interest of mammography before the intervention.
The patient agrees to perform baseline examinations for breast cancer screening after lipofilling, as recommended by the medical imaging specialist.
The lipofilling of the breasts, allows a moderate increase in comparison with breast augmentation by implant.
Indeed this increase is a function of the amount of fat to be taken and it varies between 1 to 2 cups.
The fat injected into the breast contains living cells from the patient herself, so they graft to connective tissue and can therefore live as much as these tissues without inducing an immune response.
However, the transplanted cells undergo the same variations as the whole body so in the case of weight gain the breasts will increase in volume and otherwise they will shrink.
Yes pregnancy and breastfeeding are possible, however a minimum of six months is required before becoming pregnant in order to preserve the aesthetic result.
In some cases it is possible to combine prosthesis and lipofilling.
In this case, the injected fat is mainly used to fill certain areas. The volume is provided by the prosthesis.
Lipofilling has an effect on the volume and shape of the breasts but it is generally less remarkable than the implant technique
